【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthepercentvolumenonvolatilematterofavarietyofclearandpigmentedcoatings.TheapproachusedshouldprovidefasterandmoreaccurateresultsthantheuseofliquiddisplacementtechniqueinTestMethodD2697,particularlyforcoatingsthataredifficulttowetorthatcontainvoids,cracksorotherdefects.Theimprovementinaccuracystemsfromthesuperiorabilityofheliumgasunderpressuretopenetrateverysmallporesandsurfaceirregularitiesindriedfilms.Thisprovidesamoreaccuratedeterminationofvoidvolumesthancanbeobtainedvialiquiddisplacement.1.2Thetechniquewillprovideresultsunderthefollowingconstraints:1.2.1Thestabilityoftheheliumgaspycnometerisgreaterthan177;0.005cm31.2.2Testspecimenweightsaregreaterthan1g.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
